Warisan’s youth chief Terence Au accused SAPP of deflecting blame over Sabah’s migrant woes, saying the sharp rise in undocumented immigrants happened while the party sat in government.
He said the number of immigrants in Sabah grew from 810,410 in 2020 to 1,043,400 in 2024—an increase of over 230,000 in just four years—with SAPP firmly part of the GRS ruling coalition.
“If SAPP Youth is serious about protecting Sabah, they should start by asking what their own coalition has done,” Au said, responding to accusations that Warisan had endorsed MyKad applications through a marginal note.
He said the 2019 note—“sukacita dapat diluluskan”—was merely a recommendation and not an approval.
“It’s been clarified by the NRD. No political note can bypass the law. To suggest otherwise insults the integrity of our civil servants.”
Au also reminded SAPP of its past, referencing the 1999 Likas election where party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee was disqualified over phantom voters.
“If that was not a political signal, what was? SAPP and many in GRS were in power during the Project IC era. Don’t cherry-pick history to score cheap political points.”
He accused SAPP Youth of resurrecting old letters to distract the public from the present.
