Sabah UMNO’s leadership appears divided over electoral pacts.

Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the state committee has not discussed seat allocations or alliances.

His statement casts doubt on Party Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin’s claim that 22 out of 25 division heads rejected a pact with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Rahman insisted that discussions are still ongoing between the state and federal leadership.

He stressed that any decision would be made collectively.

Until then, he said, Sabah UMNO’s priority is strengthening the party.

Rahman dismissed speculation that UMNO would contest the state election alone.

“For me, going solo is not viable in Sabah,” he said.

“Every party must work with someone.”

He noted that Sabah’s political landscape is constantly shifting. He said a decision on alliances should be made soon.

Rahman added that the public is tired of political infighting. People, he said, want leaders to focus on governance. – February 11, 2025.
