KDM eyes 45 Seats, plans solo run in Sabah Election

Party aims for simple majority without alliances, citing Sarawak’s success

Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) has hinted that it will go solo in the upcoming Sabah state election, eyeing 45 seats—enough to form the government if it wins them all, reports Talantang.com.

KDM president Datuk Peter Anthony said the party had not engaged in discussions or alliances with other political groups, whether local or national, ahead of the polls.

“KDM has made a clear decision. In the upcoming election, we will participate and contest based on our party’s own strength,” he said during the launch of KDM’s election machinery for the Sindumin and Lumadan state seats at the Pope John Paul II Parish Hall in Kg. Muhibah on Saturday.

Anthony, the former state Works Minister, revealed that KDM had identified over 45 state seats it plans to contest, a strategic move that could potentially secure a simple majority in the 79-seat Sabah State Legislative Assembly.

KDM deputy president Weltrom Bahanda was also present at the event.

Anthony highlighted the party’s nine-point manifesto, which addresses key issues affecting Sabahans.

The manifesto includes a commitment to advocate for Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). – February 23, 2025
