Only 40.6% of the 783 development projects approved for Sabah under Budget 2024 have been completed as of January 27, with the rest still in progress, according to Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, The Star reported.
He presented the figures in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday while seeking clarification from the Prime Minister’s Department on the status of the projects and the ministries responsible for them.
In a written reply, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said 318 projects had been completed, while 465 were still under implementation under the Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK 12) for Sabah in 2024.
“Of the 783 projects, 318 have been completed while the remaining 465 are in various stages of implementation,” she said.
Tangau noted that while 40.6% of the projects were completed, many others were still unfinished, including those approved under earlier Malaysia Plans, such as the 10th Malaysia Plan (RMK-10), which had yet to commence.
Meanwhile, the Rural and Regional Development Ministry confirmed that the proposed road upgrade connecting Kampung Pahu and Kampung Wasai in Kiulu was not approved under the Fifth Rolling Plan (RP5) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) for 2025.
The ministry, in a written response to Tangau, said the proposal would be resubmitted under the First Rolling Plan (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) in 2026.
“We have yet to receive any project submission from the Sabah State Government but are aware that the Sabah Public Works Department has plans to upgrade the Tomis Tiong Lokos Kotunuan Lama Wasai road in the future,” the ministry said. – February 26, 2025
