Sabah STAR, PBS not interested in working with Warisan

Sabah STAR and PBS reject Warisan’s overtures for a pact, calling it a non-issue

Sabah STAR and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) have shown no interest in forging a pact with Parti Warisan, despite overtures from Warisan leaders, according to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

He said Warisan’s attempts to woo the two parties have fallen flat.

“As far as I know, PBS and Sabah STAR are not interested,” he said when met by reporters at a function in Kota Kinabalu, Thursday.

Masidi also brushed off talks of Warisan wanting to join GRS, calling it a “non-issue.”

“They only want to engage with PBS and Sabah STAR. Not with Gagasan Rakyat,” he added.

Warisan recently stated it preferred to collaborate with the two GRS components rather than GRS’s main party, Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah.

But Masidi said any pact is unlikely as PBS and Sabah STAR have shown no enthusiasm for the proposal.

“If both sides aren’t keen, there’s nothing to discuss,” he stressed.

The rejection comes as Warisan leaders criticised GRS over a corruption scandal involving Gagasan Rakyat assemblymen.

Masidi, who was also implicated, said he has fully cooperated with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“I’ve already given my statement and will do so again if required,” he said.

He urged the public to let the MACC carry out its investigation.

“I’ve moved on from this. Let’s not let issues like these distract us from our work,” Masidi added. – January 9, 2025
