Environmentalists save 170 turtle eggs from poachers and erosion – Two turtles landed on Pom-Pom Island earlier this week, laying a total of 170 eggs that were relocated to a hatchery by conservationists from the Tropical Research and Conservation Centre (TRACC). In 2024, TRACC relocated 7,662 turtle eggs, with over 5,000 hatchlings successfully released into the wild.
Sarawak launches green methanol project to support clean energy – Sarawak is pushing its clean energy agenda with the launch of a green methanol project by Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd. Cop pleads not guilty to bribery charges in drug trafficking case – A police sergeant in Kudat has pleaded not guilty to accepting a RM1,800 bribe to overlook a drug trafficking case in 2021. Sjn Zakaria Mohd Jasni, 41, is accused of receiving the money in exchange for not taking action against a suspected drug trafficker.
Sandakan man caught smuggling cooking oil, petrol worth RM146,000 – A 36-year-old man was arrested in Sandakan for attempting to smuggle cooking oil and petrol to a neighbouring country. Marine police seized a three-tonne lorry and a 4WD loaded with 2,482 packets of cooking oil and 300 litres of petrol during a raid on Sunday. Sabah Marine Police Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the total seizure was valued at RM146,717.
