Warisan’s youth wing has called on the authorities to act against those spreading false claims linking the party to illegal settlements and citizenship for undocumented migrants.
The party youth chief Terence Au Soon Fui lodged a report at the Karamunsing police station, naming TikTok user Johnny Soimpon, also known as Aki Nabalu, and a website called JalinLulin.com as responsible for the allegations.
Au said the TikTok video accused Warisan of allowing the construction of houses in a mangrove area near Kampung Pulau Penampang, close to Universiti Malaysia Sabah in Sepanggar.
He also cited a JalinLulin.com article titled “Shafie dan Permohonan PTI Jadi Warganegara Malaysia”, which implied that Warisan, under its previous administration, granted citizenship to foreigners.
“These allegations are slanderous and meant to incite hatred against Warisan,” he said, stressing that both the video and article were defamatory.
Au, who is also the former special officer to Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, denied the claims and said the party would not tolerate such attacks.
He called on the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the matter immediately.
“We want those responsible to be brought to court,” he said. – April 5, 2025
