Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking has denied any official discussions or agreements with Sabah Umno when dismissing claims circulating on social media.
Warisan has refuted claims of an election pact with Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah before, calling it unfounded speculation.
Its deputy president, Darell Leiking, clarified that no agreement had been made between Warisan and BN Sabah—or any other party—regarding state seats, as alleged in a viral Facebook post.
“This matter has never been brought to Warisan’s Supreme Council or Political Bureau for discussion,” he said.
Leiking added that such speculation was common as elections approached, but noted that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Hajiji Noor had previously expressed openness to working with BN Sabah.
“With PH Sabah already aligned with GRS, it’s no surprise that Hajiji wants BN Sabah on board—it’s all about keeping GRS in power,” Leiking claimed.
Leiking denial came amid clickbait sites and misinformation social media channels running such claims the two political parties would be forming an electoral pact.
Meanwhile, UMNO Sabah has denied any official discussions or agreements with Parti Warisan regarding a political alliance, saying reports suggesting otherwise are mere speculation.
UMNO Sabah information chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir said the party has not made any decision to form an alliance with any political party in the state.
“UMNO Sabah remains focused on strengthening the party and fighting for the interests of the people of Sabah,” he said.
He added that the party has its own strategies to face any political developments and remains confident in the trust of the people.
“We advise all parties not to be swayed by baseless speculation. Any official decisions or announcements will be made through proper channels at the appropriate time,” he said. – February 15, 2025.
