Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) has given its commitment to assist Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Haji Noor in increasing the state’s revenue.
Its chairman, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said the coalition is ready to work with the Sabah leadership to further strengthen the state’s revenue collection.
“I believe the Chief Minister’s statement is based on the achievements of the past two years.
“Indeed, Sabah’s government revenue has increased, and PH Sabah is proud to be part of the leadership that has contributed to this growth.
“One example is the special grant under Article 112D, where we have raised the interim payment from RM306 million to RM600 million starting this year,” said Ewon, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.
He made these remarks at a Chinese New Year Open House hosted by Sabah’s Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, alongside Sabah DAP leaders.
Ewon, who is also the president of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), was commenting to the RM8 billion target could be achieved in three years if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah – and PH coalition secures the mandate in the upcoming Sabah election.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Chairman of the Village Development Cooperative Jannie Lasimbang, and Senator Datuk Nelson Angang. – January 31, 2025
