Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will field candidates in all state constituencies under Tawau and Kalabakan in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election (PRN17).

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor urged voters to support GRS, saying strong government representation is crucial for continued development in Sri Tanjong, Apas, Balung, Kukusan, Merotai, Sebatik, and Tanjung Batu.

“At this election, vote for GRS. We have achieved more in four years than the previous government,” he said at a Chinese New Year gathering in Merotai on Sunday.

Hajiji, who also chairs GRS, said his coalition with Pakatan Harapan (PH) has a clear roadmap and a major development agenda for Sabah.

“We have a vision for Sabah, unlike the previous government, which lacked direction and spread lies,” he added.

Currently, Tawau and Kalabakan constituencies are represented by a mix of parties. In Tawau, Hamid Awang (GRS-Gagasan) holds Balung, Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (GRS-Gagasan) represents Apas, and Justin Wong Yung Bin (Warisan) serves in Sri Tanjong.

In Kalabakan, Rina Jainal (PHRS) represents Kukusan, Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy (UMNO) holds Tanjong Batu, Sarifuddin Hata (Warisan) serves in Merotai, and Hassan A. Gani Pg. Amir (GRS-Gagasan) represents Sebatik.

He assured that GRS will remain in power after PRN17, citing the coalition’s record in delivering progress.

On infrastructure, Hajiji pledged to resolve Sabah’s water supply issues this year, with upgrades to treatment plants and repairs to pipelines already in motion.

“The opposition only makes noise but offers no solutions. We have a plan and are taking action,” he said.

Hajiji also handed over land offer letters to 42 recipients from Kampung Iban, Merotai.

Earlier, he visited Gagasan Rakyat Sri Tanjong division chief Datuk Naim Ahmat, who is ill, at his home in Tawau. – February 16, 2025.
