KDM deputy president Datuk Wetrom Bahanda said the decision was disappointing but would not halt the party’s political struggle.
“We will not retreat even a step. Our fight continues, including in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election,” Wetrom said in a statement on Tuesday.
This comes after the Kuala Lumpur Court of Appeal has upheld the conviction of Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) president Datuk Peter Anthony, maintaining his three-year prison sentence and RM50,000 fine.
He called on supporters across the state to remain steadfast, adding that KDM’s leadership would push forward with its plans.
A high-level party meeting will be held soon to discuss KDM’s next steps.
Meanwhile, State assembly speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim Yahya has called for a press conference tomorrow morning.
He is likely to announce the Melalap seat vacant but no by-election would be held as this is an election year for Sabah. – March 4, 2025
