Sabah UMNO chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin denied claims that the opposition was behind the circulation of the “ADUN Rasuah” video.

He called GRS vice-president Datuk Masiung Banah’s accusation baseless and said the scandal involved Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) members alone.

“All the videos that went viral, including one involving Masiung himself, show negotiations involving only GRS representatives,” Bung said today.

He said the recordings show clear evidence of GRS leaders accepting money.

“This is clear misconduct that violates the law, without any connection to the opposition,” he said.

Bung questioned why GRS leaders have yet to take legal action over the videos.

“If the claims are untrue, why hasn’t anyone sued the media or those spreading the videos?” he asked.

Instead, GRS leaders made statements like “I move on and continue my work,” raising more questions, Bung said.

He added that UMNO-BN doesn’t need dirty politics to gain support.

“The people know what’s happening – GRS has failed to manage the state, as seen in the clean water issue,” Bung said.

He said Sabahans are more discerning and know who’s responsible for the scandal.

“Their eyes are open. They can see who’s at fault,” he added.

On Friday last week, Kuamut assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah claimed that the opposition was behind the exposure of the viral videos of him and seven other GRS elected reps.

This was done to discredit the GRS leaders, he said.

Stating this in Sandakan, the GRS leader claims viral video is opposition smear tactic following the botched attempt to oust the ruling alliance in 2023.

Masiung said the same group behind the failed political manoeuvre is seeking revenge ahead of Sabah’s state election this year.

“They’ve tried dirty tactics before, and they’re still plotting to stir hate against Hajiji’s government,” he said. – January 12, 2025.
