A 13-year-old boy died after being struck by a car while crossing the road near Kampung Tebobon, Kota Kinabalu, on Tuesday night.
The fatal incident happened around 9:40 PM, when a Perodua Axia driven by a man in his 20s was heading towards Bandar Sierra.
According to police, the teenager ran across the road from right to left, leaving the driver unable to stop in time.

“Our findings show the pedestrian failed to check the road before crossing, which led to the tragedy,” added ACP Kasim.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police are urging drivers to remain vigilant and pedestrians to check for oncoming traffic before crossing.
