Sabah will be holding a grand Chinese New Year Open House 2025 at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC) on January 30, featuring a vibrant lineup of cultural performances, traditional delicacies, and calligraphy demonstrations.
Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew said the event aims to showcase the richness of Chinese culture through performances such as Wushu, Bian Lian, and Diabolo by students from Kota Kinabalu High School, SM Kian Kok, and SM Tshung Tsin.
“Visitors can also look forward to exhibitions of traditional snacks like Lo Mai Chi and Dragon’s Beard candy, along with live demonstrations of Chinese calligraphy,” she said during a press conference and luncheon here on Thursday.
Liew added that the open house is expected to attract 20,000 visitors and urged the public to participate in the celebration.
The event will also see the presence of Sabah’s Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Musa Aman, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Also in attendance during the announcement were Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment Datuk Joniston Bangkuai and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Datuk Josie Lai. – January 17, 2025
