The Sabah Education Department has activated Ops Payung to ensure SPM candidates, especially in flood-affected areas, can sit for their exams safely, Bernama reports.
Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin said all candidates in Sabah are safe, and officials are monitoring the flood situation closely.
“All district education offices have been instructed to fully implement Ops Payung with our strategic partners,” he said.
These partners include the Fire and Rescue Department and APM, which are mobilising resources to assist students.
The SPM exam will conclude on February 6, with the final Geography Paper 2 scheduled for 2pm.
Raisin said officials are ensuring exam centres remain operational while advising students to prioritise safety.
Several schools in flood-hit areas, including Kota Marudu, Lahad Datu, and Sandakan, have been converted into temporary evacuation centres.
“All students and staff are advised to remain cautious and follow authorities’ instructions,” he said. – February 2, 2025.
