An elderly woman was found dead, suspected to have been attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Kunak, some 445 kilometers southeast of Kota Kinabalu.
The incident believed to have happened about two days ago.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the terminal showed the victim, believed to be in her 60s, being surrounded and attacked by about 11 dogs at around 1.49am at the local bus terminal, last Friday.
The footage capturing the horrifying incident has gone viral on WhatsApp.
Kunak district police chief Superintendent Sabarudin Rahmat said authorities were alerted to the discovery of the woman’s body by a member of the public at around 6.30am on the same day.
“Police investigations revealed the woman’s body was found lying unclothed at the bus terminal.
“She had multiple wounds, believed to be dog bites, on her left arm, head, right chest, both sides of her waist, and both legs,” he said on Monday.
Superintendent Sabarudin added that initial checks found the victim had no identification documents and was not believed to be from Kunak.
The woman’s body was sent to Tawau Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and the case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR). – January 27, 2025.
