Ceiling fare for Aidilfitri flights capped at RM499

Government maintains subsidy to ease festive travel costs to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan

The ceiling fare for one-way flight from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will remain capped at RM499 for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the subsidy aims to keep air travel affordable for festive travellers heading to East Malaysia.

“This RM499 ceiling excludes taxes and fees and is a reduction from the previous RM599 limit. The government will cover the difference between the original ticket price and the capped fare,” Loke said during the launch of AirAsia’s Hari Raya Fixed Fare Flights on Wednesday.

Also present was AirAsia Malaysia CEO Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra.

Loke said the ceiling fare reflects the government’s commitment to making air travel more accessible during peak festive seasons.

AirAsia will provide over 16,000 seats on more than 90 late-night flights at fixed fares between Johor Bahru or Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, from March 28 to April 5, 2025.

Fareh said the promotional fares, available on airasia.com and the AirAsia MOVE app until April 5, include RM328 one-way tickets between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, or Miri, as well as between Johor Bahru and Kuching or Sibu.

Meanwhile, flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, or Tawau, and between Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu, are priced at RM388 one-way.

Fareh added that AirAsia is also operating 287 weekly flights at regular fares to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan as part of the government’s festive season initiative. – February 26, 2025
