Bung Moktar visits Kinabatangan flood victims

Kinabatangan MP urges continuos relief effort

Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin arrived in flood-hit Kinabatangan to assess the damage, meet displaced residents, and oversee relief efforts.

His visit began at the district’s disaster operations control centre, where he received a briefing from disaster response officials, including Kapt (PA) Ahmad Roslan Mohd Kamel. 

Kinabatangan police chief Ravi Duraisamy and other emergency responders were also present. 

Bung Moktar who is the Kinabatangan MP later handed over a personal contribution to support ongoing flood relief operations.

At the temporary evacuation centre in SK Bukit Garam, he met with flood victims and distributed aid.

“I hope all flood victims remain patient and strong in facing this challenge,” he said, acknowledging the difficulties faced by those displaced.

He then toured several flood-affected areas, including Pangkalan, Kampung Muhibbah, and Kampung Mengaris in Sukau, to assess the extent of the damage.

“I also urge all parties to continue working together to ensure the safety and well-being of the victims,” he added.

Bung Moktar expressed his gratitude to first responders and assured that government assistance would continue.

“I would also like to extend my deepest appreciation to all the agencies involved in helping the flood victims. The government and relevant agencies will continue to provide the necessary assistance to ensure the people’s welfare is taken care of,” he said.

Flood relief efforts remain ongoing as authorities continue to monitor the situation.– February 7, 2025.
