Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered the immediate revocation of Ramadan bazaar licenses if they are transferred.

He said while the situation has improved, license holders must be actively involved.

“This is about Ramadan, where agents and large commissions are common,” he said at the Prime Minister’s Department’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya today.

Anwar stressed that permits must go directly to traders, not agents.

He acknowledged that associations may impose supervision and cleanliness fees but warned against profiteering.

“When a license is sold, public officials are often aware,” he said.

He noted that this issue is widespread, not just in Kuala Lumpur.

Anwar hopes strict enforcement in the capital will set a national example.

He urged authorities to ensure fair and transparent permit allocations. – February 10, 2025.
