Fire and Rescue Department personnel successfully evacuated 22 flood victims from Kg Kokos here this Thursday morning.

The department received an emergency call at 6.32 am, and a team of 17 firefighters from the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Lahad Datu) arrived at the scene by 6.45 am.

Led by Operations Commander PBK II Mohd Suait Mohammad, the team deployed boats to transfer victims to the homes of relatives and a temporary relief centre at Kolej Vokasional Lahad Datu.

The victims included one adult male, 11 adult females, three boys, five girls, and two infant boys. No casualties were reported.

Evacuation efforts are ongoing, with updates to follow.

Family of four rescued from stranded vehicle

Meanwhile, A family of four was rescued after their vehicle became trapped in floodwaters at Kampung Paris 2 in Kinabatangan early Thursday morning. 

The Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call at 12.56 am, and a team of four firefighters from the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Kinabatangan) arrived at the scene nearly two hours later.

Led by Operations Commander PBK II Ahmad Pramuja Zainadun, the team successfully evacuated the victims—a man, a woman, and two young girls—from the vehicle.

No injuries were reported, and the operation concluded at 7.15 am. – January 30, 2025.
