Sabah PKR is pushing back the claim of its own leader that the national leadership determines electoral alliances and candidate election, citing that such decisions rest within the state chapter itself.
Sabah PKR Information Chief Razeef Rakimin clarified that the state leadership maintains full autonomy over seat allocations, coalition partners, and its election manifesto.
These decisions, he said, are made internally before being conveyed to the central leadership.
“The Sabah PKR leadership makes election-related decisions, and only then does the central leadership take note before any announcement is made,” Razeef stated, refuting any suggestion that national leaders dictate alliances in the state.
Razeef’s clarification follows the remarks of Sabah PKR’s deputy treasurer Datuk Nordin Ening, which Razeef believed were misinterpreted and did not reflect the party’s position.
Towards this end, he warned party leaders against issuing statements without prior consultation with the State Leadership Council.
He stressed that only the state chairman, deputy chairman, and information chief are authorized to speak on behalf of PKR Sabah.
PKR Sabah is also calling for discipline within its ranks, urging members to ensure all public statements align with the leadership’s decisions. – March 2, 2025
