KDM denies teaming up with other parties, says it will contest solo in PRN17

Party distances itself from viral event poster, denying forming alliance with Sedar party

Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) reiterated its stance to go solo, dismissing social media insinuations forming alliances with other political parties.

Its information chief Mohd Ari-Nadzrah Abd Rahman (pictured) said the party is sticking to its earlier decision to contest independently.

He also dismissed a viral post on social media linking KDM to an event allegedly co-hosted with Parti Sedar Rakyat (SEDAR), describing it as false and misleading.

“KDM wishes to make it clear that we have decided to go solo in PRN17, and that decision remains.

“Any programme by other parties that claims to involve KDM is untrue and done without our knowledge,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Ari-Nadzrah added that the viral event may have been intended to tarnish the reputation of KDM, which is gearing up to face the state polls as a local party.

Last February, the party president Datuk Peter Anthony noted the party will not form alliances and hinted plans to contest in 45 of the 73 seats in the state election due this year.

Anthony is currently serving a three-year prison sentecne after his conviction of document forgery was upheld by the Court of Appeal last March.

In his absence, his daugther Priscella Peter is now KDM acting president and supported by deputy president Datuk Wetrom Bahanda. – April 8, 2025
