Sabah Assistant Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Mohamad Hamsan Awang Supain has been reported recovering well at the KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital.

Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Musa Aman paid a visit to Hamsan on Sunday.

He was accompanied by Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) director Datuk Awang Kadin Tang.

Musa spent about 20 minutes with Hamsan and his wife, Datin Kalsom Abd Aziz.

Hamsan, 56, was admitted on Wednesday following a heart attack. He had been battling acute kidney disease and was in and out of the hospital since December.

His younger brother Wahidan confirmed that Hamsan’s condition has stabilised and he is no longer on life support.

“We are grateful for the prayers and well wishes. His condition is much improved,” he said.

This is Hamsan’s first term as Sungai Sibuga assemblyman, a seat once held by Musa himself. He contested as a Barisan Nasional candidate in the 2020 state election and was appointed Assistant Minister under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah government.

Musa, Sabah’s 11th Governor, was appointed on January 1.

The family has expressed their gratitude for the support and dismissed rumours of Hamsan’s passing as false. “Please continue to pray for his recovery,” said Hamsan’s daughter, Nurhafizah Fatin. – January 18, 2025.
