Former Sabah minister Datuk Peter Anthony has lost his final appeal against a conviction for falsifying documents.
The Court of Appeal upheld his three-year prison sentence and RM50,000 fine, ordering him to jail immediately.
Anthony who is also Sabah’s Melalap assemblyman was found guilty in May 2022 and sentenced by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
His appeal was dismissed by the High Court on April 18, and today’s ruling ends his legal options.
The case involves his role as Asli Jati Engineering’s managing director, falsifying a letter from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
The letter was linked to a maintenance contract for UMS’s mechanical and electrical systems.
Peter, also president of Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), failed to overturn the verdict. – March 4, 2025
